A simple definition of God is "the
supreme being, creator deity and principal object of faith and love. God is
usually perceived as being omniscient (all-knowing), omnipotent (all-powerful),
omnipresent (all-present), one who is perfect in power, goodness and wisdom as
well as one who is self-existent; as discussed in my blog-post ‘who created the
creator’- to see this post click ………
God is said to be outside nature
(transcendence) and as being in nature (immanent). Furthermore, some religions
describe God without reference to gender.
The Reality
The realism of God’s existence is so noticeable,
both through creation and through man’s conscience, so much so that the Bible
calls the atheist a “fool” Psalms 14:1. Consequently, the Bible at no time does
it try to prove the existence of God; but it assumes His existence from the
very beginning Genesis 1:1. What the sixty-six good love letter disclose to us
is the nature, character, and work of God.
His Nature
Having
defined who God is and revealing the realism of God’s existence its important
to bring into light the nature of God. First of all, it’s important to understand
what nature is. In a more straightforward terms nature is the basic or inherent
features or qualities of something. God has revealed his qualities to us and we
can find this in his words. I would love backup this with bible reverences for
us to grasp the true nature of God.- To start with God is spirit (John 4:24). This simply means that by nature God is intangible.
- God is one. According to Matthew 3:16-17, we read that God exists as three persons (Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit). Read also 1 Corinthians 8:6
- Unchanging- the Bible records that God is unchangeable, is the same yesterday, today and forevermore. Read Malachi 3:6.
- Infinite- God is infinite in nature; this simply means is limitless and impossible to measure or calculate, he is eternal and immortal. Read 1 Timothy 1:17
- Incomparable -this means that God is unique, without an equal in quality or extent. He is matchless. Isaiah 40:12-31
- Omnipresent- God exists everywhere. Read Psalms 139:7-12
- Omniscient- God is all knowing. He knows everything. Psalm 139
- Omnipotent- God has all power and authority. Revelation 19:6
